Out today, KILN's Lemon Borealis

Celebrating with this video by Joseph Querio

After 30+ years of creating magic together, KILN debuts on ASIP with a new evolution of their previously indescribable sound palette. Lemon Borealis utilizes a fresh process of condensing immersive sprawl into compact, punchy and colorful sound. Using aspects of live performance, beatmaking and waveform sculpting, the troika of Kevin Hayes, Kirk Marrison and Clark Rehberg III create evocative and invigorating dioramas, continuing to surprise and enchant listeners after over thirty years into their collaboration.

Here’s what Norman Records had to say about the album in their Best New Album of the week column:

“…a fizzy and seductive set of electronic mini-funk… It sits somewhere between Tortoise, Mouse on Mars, To Rococo Rot, and perhaps Telefon Tel Aviv at a push, and after thirty years in the game the trio know exactly what they are doing and have honed their sound to perfection. It squelches, it squeaks, it sounds like something that’s come out of Berlin or Chicago (hmm.. Michigan not too far off) and that description won’t change your life but the LP will provide an energy-filled soundtrack to part of it.”
